Description
Ian's mission is to see singing together become an essential part of a more honest, more courageous, kinder culture. Ian Carrick is a singer, songleader, cultural composter, songwriter and instrumentalist based in Bend, Oregon. He has a BA in Humanities for Leadership and is certified as a Full Voice™ coach. His teachers and mentors include Dr. Joy Sherman, Barbara McAfee, Liz Rog, Laurence Cole, Lisa Littlebird, and many other powerfully authentic people. Ian has 12 years of experience playing community-based forms of music from bluegrass to choro in Seattle, Central Brazil, and Sumatra, Indonesia. He is part of the Mankind Project international and is passionate about awakening men's voices and hearts so we can be there for each other. Ian helps people find their voice through his own experience of losing his as a teenager and young man. Connecting with the full power of our voices brings vitality, courage and presence to our lives. Singing in groups has been potent medicine for Ian, providing belonging, joy, and access to deep, buried feelings. Ian is truly honored to share this work with others. He hopes his grandchildren will know song as parts of life, not reserved for headphones or stages. He hopes they will know rhythm as a fabric of community that keeps us in this together, hearts and minds and hands manifesting the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.
